NEET mein "category" ka matlab kya hai?
NEET counselling mein aapki category decide karti hai ki aap kaunse reserved-quota seats ke liye eligible ho, aur us quota ke andar cutoff/rank requirement generally General category se relaxed hota hai. Ye reservation Indian Constitution ke rules follow karta hai aur MCC (AIQ) aur state counselling boards dono jagah apply hota hai.

- UR / General (GN) — koi reservation nahi, sabse competitive category
- OBC-NCL — Other Backward Class (Non-Creamy Layer)
- SC — Scheduled Caste

- PwD — Person with Disability — ye har upar wali category ke saath ek additional horizontal reservation hai (jaise "OBC-PwD", "SC-PwD" etc.)

Cutoff kaise relax hota hai
Har category ke liye ek alag "qualifying percentile" hota hai NEET result mein — General ke liye highest, phir OBC/SC/ST ke liye kam. Iska matlab reserved category ke students kam marks/higher rank number ke saath bhi qualify ho sakte hain General category se. Lekin seat allotment sirf qualifying se nahi, us category ke andar available seats aur competition pe bhi depend karta hai.
GN Fallback — ek important concept
Reserved category (OBC/SC/ST/EWS) ke students sirf apni reserved seats tak limited nahi hote — agar unki rank General/Open seat ke liye bhi qualify karti hai, wo us seat ke liye bhi compete kar sakte hain. Isse "GN fallback" ya "category ke saath GN bhi try karna" kehte hain. Practically iska matlab: agar aapki rank achi hai, aap apni reserved category ki seats + General open seats — dono ke liye eligible ho sakte ho, jo aapke options badha deta hai. PwD candidates ke liye
